The UAE Mission to the United Nations moderated an ambassadorial dialogue for other UN Missions titled, “COVID-19: Strengthening the International System Amid Global Crisis, Response, and Recovery.”
Throughout the dialogue, the panel discussed measures to protect vulnerable communities, ensure equitable access to medical supplies and eventual vaccines, and prevent the pandemic from widening the gap between richer and poorer nations. Participants explained if nations work independently, it will be harder to restore a global set of norms and functioning economics. Participants also stressed the equitable availability of a vaccine depends on the governance the international community can deliver on.
The dialogue saw a number of fellow ambassadors and delegates from the UN Member States attend and participate in the discussion.
