Mr. President,

At the outset, I would like to thank Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Ms. Rosemary DiCarlo, for her updates and briefing this evening.

I would like to refer to the statement that the UAE delivered in this Chamber on 17 February on the same subject. I would like to emphasize once again the importance of de-escalation and restraint, to maintain regional and international security and stability. We believe now is the time to engage constructively and in good faith to address the current situation and mitigate its impact, of course, on any civilians and civilian infrastructure and to chart a diplomatic path forward.

Mr. President, the UAE reiterates the importance of dialogue, as others have said, de-escalation, diplomacy, and to continue all efforts to reach a peaceful solution consistent with international law and the Charter of the United Nations, particularly the principles of territorial integrity, independence, sovereignty, and good neighborliness. We believe the Minsk agreements form a good basis for that and that the adherence to these principles is in indeed a sustainable pillar of a peaceful pathway forward.

Thank you.
