Thank you, Mr. Chair,
Distinguished delegates,
Since this is the first time addressing the committee, allow us to congratulate you Mr. chair for your election.
International collaboration is essential for us all to realize the massive potential of the space opportunity.
There are many examples of what this represents:
- Breakthroughs in renewable energy inspired by space-based solar power.
- Cutting-edge advancements in materials science.
- And the innovations from space exploration that are reshaping solutions for energy security, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
The full potential of the space opportunity cannot be achieved in isolation. That’s why we have all engaged and benefited from international collaboration to advance space missions and accelerate the development of new technologies.
We have furthered our expertise as well as that of the broader industry through knowledge transfer and the exchange of experience. This has helped us better manage and share resources as well as shape the frameworks that will ensure the long-term viability of space exploration.
The UAE is committed to working with government and private-sector partners in countries across our community to help lead the drive for innovative solutions to ensure sustainability of space so we can all continue to explore the vast potential our breakthrough discoveries have for life here on Earth.
For the UAE, the commitment to global cooperation is a result of the significant discoveries achieved from past, ongoing and new to be achieved from upcoming missions, including the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt, Artemis Lunar Gateway Airlock, and Rashid rover 2.
Mr. Chair,
The UAE recognizes the importance of space capabilities that address our national and global challenges which include Environment Monitoring, Climate Change, and Food Security, with several programs and initiatives that have been executed at a national level.
Scientific experiments conducted in the field of outer space have led to real and positive impacts in multiple areas, such as technology, environment, agriculture, engineering, communications and navigation, among others.
We established a program to harness satellite data to map out a trail of destruction caused by extreme weather events around the globe and develop early warning systems to limit the future impact of climate change.
Our aim to widen the availability of early warning systems for hazardous events such as extreme weather, water security issues and other climate-related events.
In one month, the UAE will host the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Space Debate. Together with leaders from across the global space community, we will address the challenges of sustainability of space and mitigating space debris while working towards a future where space is not only a frontier of opportunity but also a realm of shared stewardship.
We will continue to strengthen global efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the space sector through our participation. Our aim is not just to explore space science but also to develop advanced technologies for the progress and welfare of all humankind.
Thank you Mr. Chair.
