Delivered By: HE Mohamed Abushahab, Ambassador and Permanent Representative
Co-Chairs,
I would like to begin by thanking France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for briefing us today and for your efforts as designated co-chairs of the High-level International Conference on supporting the implementation of the Two-State Solution.
The United Arab Emirates aligns itself with the statements delivered by Libya on behalf of the Arab Group, and Mauritania on behalf of the OIC.
While efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza continue, we must simultaneously advance the Two-State Solution and the realization of an independent Palestinian State.
In this context, I would like to highlight three key points:
First, we need a clear time-bound roadmap to end the Israeli occupation. General Assembly resolution ES-10/24, adopted last September, set out a twelve-month timeframe for this. However, we need clear implementation mechanisms to advance this objective.
Second, this conference must produce practical and concrete outcomes, while mobilizing the political will to seriously advance the Two-State Solution.
Third, we must continue efforts to secure full UN membership for the State of Palestine, with all related rights and privileges. We urge all countries that have not done so to recognize the State of Palestine, as this is an important step in advancing the peace process.
The UAE reaffirms its unwavering commitment to peace and stands ready to continue working with the international community in advancing these vital objectives.
This critical moment demands not just words, but concrete action.
Achieving the Two-State Solution remains our collective responsibility and the only viable path to a just and lasting peace.
Thank you, Co-Chairs.
