Delivered by: Mr. Mohamed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan

Mr. Chair,

At the outset, the United Arab Emirates aligns itself with the statements delivered by the Arab Group and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Mr. Chair,

The unprecedented escalation of armed conflicts around the world underscores the urgent need for the international community to intensify its efforts towards disarmament and the elimination of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction. The establishment of weapon-free zones in different parts of the world has proven their effective and positive role in strengthening regional and international security and stability.

In this regard, the United Arab Emirates reiterates its unwavering support for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East. The UAE calls upon all parties participating in the upcoming conference to be held under the presidency of the Kingdom of Morocco from 17 to 21 November 2025, to engage constructively and in good faith to reach a legally binding treaty that will advance the creation of this long-awaited zone.

Mr. Chair,

The United Arab Emirates reiterates the right of all states to utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, provided they uphold the principles of transparency and full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which are essential for building confidence and preventing nuclear proliferation.

Consistent with these principles, the UAE continues to implement its peaceful nuclear program in strict adherence to the highest safety standards and best international practices, and calls on all States whose nuclear activities have raised international concerns to fully cooperate with the IAEA in addressing those concerns.

Mr. Chair,

The United Arab Emirates expresses its deep concern over the continued development of ballistic missile programs by certain States in the region and the transfer of such capabilities to terrorist groups for use against other countries. These actions seriously undermine regional and international security and stability. The UAE, therefore, calls on all parties to comply with relevant international instruments and Security Council resolutions, and to refrain from any activities that could further destabilize the region.

Finally, the United Arab Emirates stresses that achieving global security and stability requires strengthening multilateral action and collective cooperation. Such collaboration is crucial for making concrete progress on disarmament and security issues, paving the way for a more secure and stable future for the region and the world.

Thank you Mr. Chair,
