Thank you, Minister.

I would like to begin by welcoming Prime Minister Ahmad Awad Bin Mubarak and his accompanying delegation, and to thank you, Minister Hamish Falconer, and the UK Mission, for bringing us together for this important discussion.

We commend Prime Minister Bin Mubarak and the Government of Yemen’s leadership on their ambitious vision for Yemen’s future.

The United Arab Emirates maintains its unwavering commitment to Yemen – to its stability, to its prosperity, and to its people.  Especially while the Houthis continue to undermine the country’s security and development.

The UAE has provided more than 6 billion USD in humanitarian and development assistance since 2015, including support for essential services and critical infrastructure projects.

But no single nation can on its own resolve the challenges facing Yemen. The situation demands unified international action to support Yemen’s stability and institution-building.

To that end, I would like to highlight three key points:

First, the UAE welcomes the Government of Yemen’s vision for the future, and we stress the importance of international support to the Government of Yemen for the implementation of its vision. The government must be empowered to deliver on this vision.

Second, we commend all efforts that support a political solution to Yemen’s crisis, and in this regard welcome “The Yemen Maritime Security Partnership,” and look forward to learning more about its implementation framework and coordination arrangements.

Lastly, we emphasize the need for sustained, predictable support to Yemen’s government to enable the effective delivery of services as well as institutional reforms. International assistance must be aligned with national priorities and coordinated effectively.

Achieving a brighter future for Yemen will require concrete steps from the international community to support the legitimate government and counter all actions that threaten the country and the region.

Thank you, Ministers.
